Erlich/Ram Prevail In Match Tie-break

Defending champions Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram escaped an exit in their opening match, Thursday at the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinnati, as they came back to defeat Swede Robert Lindstedt and Finn Jarkko Nieminen 3-6, 6-3, 12-10.
Erlich and Ram won their team's first ATP Masters Series title at this event last year, saving two match points against Bob and Mike Bryan in the final. They enjoyed early success in the 2008 season with titles at the Australian Open and Indian Wells, but have yet to advance beyond the quarterfinals since.
The third-seeded Israelis will next face the Swedish-British duo of Simon Aspelin and Jamie Murray, who knocked out Czech No. 7 seeds Martin Damm and Pavel Vizner on Tuesday.
Top seeds and 2003 champions Bob and Mike Bryan moved into the semifinals with a 6-4, 7-6(0) victory over the Polish tandem of No. 8 seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.
The Bryans, who also reached the final the last two years, improved their career record to 15-9 at the tournament. They are coming off a runner-up effort at the Rogers Masters in Toronto last Sunday.
The wild card American duo of Mardy Fish and John Isner (pictured) upset fifth seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett 7-6(4), 7-6(14) in their second round match, but then came up short against No. 4 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles, 7-5, 6-7(5), 12-10 in the quarterfinals.
Bhupathi and Knowles advance to the semifinals for the first time since April at Masters Series Monte-Carlo, where they finished runners-up to Rafael Nadal and Tommy Robredo. They will face the Bryan brothers in the semis on Saturday.
Fish and Isner were teaming up for the third time, and were making their first tournament appearance since winning the grass-court title at Newport earlier this month.
