Chang enters hall of fame

Michael Chang, who won the French Open title at the age of 17 has been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.Chang, captured the 1989 French Open just three months after his 17th birthday, defeating Sweden's Stefan Edberg in the final to become the event's youngest men's winner after having earlier toppled top seed Ivan Lendl. His victory also brought an end to a 34-year Roland Garros title drought by US men."It is truly an honor," Chang said. "I will always cherish and forever remember my experiences on tour with my family, friends and fans. For me, I think the Lord wanted me to win to put a smile on Chinese people's faces," Chang, now 36, said.Also enshrined along with Chang, were the posthumous elections of two of the sport’s entrepreneurs: Mark McCormack, the founder of IMG, the sports, entertainment and media company, and Eugene Scott, a former world-ranked player who founded Tennis Week magazine and for more than 30 years served as its publisher and editor.
